[pub] v0.3a
Minor changes/fixes, but it's been a while since I updated in here, so here's the changelog entry:

Attempted fix to http://bugzilla.phase.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23
extension_loaded now checks alternate name of gtk ext'n

Added option to tag subject line with security status / list of
custom groups with access. Groups starting with '_' are special -
these names are never disclosed, so if one of these groups are
selected, the tag is simply [custom].

The flag associated with this data DOES NOT PERSIST within LJ -
therefore resyncing will cause the flag to be lost.

Fixed bug whereby 'friends-only' posts were reloading from file
as custom.

0.2 released
v0.2 of both the LJ client and FotoBilder client are now available for download.
These represent a significant improvement over v0.1 in functionality and usability.

Enhancements include:

- Upload security options in FotoBilder client
- Server settings (and optionally password) stored by client
- Interface scaling greatly improved, and text entry area makes best use of the space available, and scrolls.
- Per-post screening option is now available for posting to LJ
- Working files have more useful names (easier to find your post if your computer crashes!)

Changes!

- File storage has moved! Now in $HOME/journals
(on windows: C:\Documents and Settings\username\journals)
You may want to move your downloaded history to the new location before syncing.

Download

(Please read http://www.phase.org/files/INSTALL_GTK.txt first!)

ToDo

- Autosave STOPS when you upload, even if you start editing again. This should change.
- GTK text area isn't the best edit interface - the clients will *eventually* switch to Scintilla.
- File load dialog isn't the best way to manage past entries! A manager interface will follow later.
- Initial sync isn't perfect if you already have a lot of entries in your journal. This needs to be recoded to use a different aspect of the LJ remote interface.
- No "increase security on past posts" option. This will follow in time.

0.1 released!
Version 0.1 of PhaseJournal and PhaseFotoBilder have been released. They can be downloaded in a single tarball at http://www.phase.org/files/fotobilder-0.1.svn55.tgz

As yet they have only been tested on Windows but should be multiplatform.

Documentation can be found at http://www.phase.org/files/

PhaseJournal is a simple desktop client to update your LJ and watch for new friends posts. Its main innovation is that it autosaves your posts to your hard drive to avoid the dreaded "LJ ate my post!" problem. It also works well as an online editor in that you can keep updating a post without closing the edit window - ideal if you tend to want to add to entries after you've posted them.

It can also download your journal entries as basic text files which can be searched with your computer's file search feature.
It's simple, but effective. Currently it supports all LJ posting features except the "screening level of this post" one.

PhaseFotoBilder is a client for the new LiveJournal photo hosting service, FotoBilder. At the moment this service is in a closed beta-test stage, but will be made available to all (paid?) LJ users in due course. The client can upload one file, or a whole directory, to your galleries on FotoBilder, and then pop-up a PhaseJournal edit window with thumbnails of the images you've just uploaded, to allow you to post images to LJ in just a few mouse clicks. At the moment the client lacks the option to set security levels for your images, and to download them, but these will follow as the FotoBilder service stabilises.

Formal bug reports and feature requests can be made at http://bugzilla.phase.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=www.phase.org
